We often hear this question over and over again in the so called 'Spiritual community' and often most of the Enlightened masters describe this as a way to achieve Enlightenment at last. It sounds cliche to some whereas according to some it helps us to dig deeper into our own self and discover our true nature.
The mysterious question being: WHO AM I?
Yeah, Who am I, really. (If you ask me, I don't have the answer to it). But Yes, being in the spiritual community we are taught the age old intellectual ideas like: "I am the Soul having a human experience". Really!!!
How many of us will really agree to this? Hardly a few. We tend to take things literally and Believe blindly what we are told by some evolved spiritual master but the reality always remains, Untouched and Unexplored.
Some of us shrug the idea of spirituality totally and choose to stay with our chosen identities we feel familiar with which is Okay and Justified. But others are like me (Believers) for example, I Choose to believe in all these 'Conceptual Labels' I have created around me that defines my identity in this body. Like I AM:
But somehow I still feel that most of us today (that includes me too) have still not experienced our Authentic self. We are choosing all these labels to describe something that is in reality, Indescribable. Our true nature and the experience of getting in touch with that aspect cannot really be put into words at all. Most of the individuals who express the feeling of Enlightenment, haven't really experienced it.
Even I have had my 'Aha moments or Eureka moments' in which I could feel the connection with the whole universe, I could feel the oneness etc. I might feel like that was THE ENLIGHTENMENT MOMENT for me but the very fact that I am able to put that experience into Words means that was a result of my own mental creation, my own consciousness.
Let me put it this way, Consider a hypothetical example of: 2 children born and brought up in a small single room, that is Without any window to look & interact with the world outside. All they have seen is the things in the room. Now they are 5 years old, and by some way one child goes out and see the outside world for the first time and comes back excited to tell the other child. Now the question is:
This is what I feel the situation of most of us is, the true and authentic self cannot be encapsulated into WORDS or LABELS. We might call ourselves as XYZ but the Real Authentic Self lies hidden.
Our job is not to Impress people by the labels we create, our main job is to Find our True Authentic Self and once we have had that experience which we are not able to Express in words, that will be the Real Moment for our Enlightenment.
Now you must be thinking, How do we do that?
The Answer is simple: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
